Waste Management
“If you bring it, take it home."
First and foremost, THERE WILL BE NO PROVISION FOR GENERAL WASTE (no landfill). Think ahead and remove any excess packaging before travelling to camp, this will both lighten your load a little and reduce waste. There will be a recycling point adjacent DAGDA Castle by the entrance to the field for glass, tins and plastic. Please make PROPER use of these. If in the unlikely event they appear to be full, then "take it home". Each and every one of us is responsible for: Taking our rubbish home.
You will need suitable provision for taking home items such as sanitary wear and disposable nappies as we have no provision to get rid of these on site. Caravan and camper van owners will need to ensure they arrive with empty waste tanks, as there is no provision for sluicing or waste water disposal on site. Picking up our own rubbish (this includes bottles, cans and cigarette ends, etc.) Picking up any rubbish we see around the site and disposing of it appropriately. Challenging anyone we see dropping rubbish, anywhere on site, especially around the fire, or along the banks of the stream. At the close of camp, there will be a Dagda at each gate and if you can demonstrate that you are taking your non-recyclable rubbish (including broken tents, chairs and burst airbeds which cannot go in the recycle bins) home, by showing it to the Dagda as you leave the site the 'Great Aus' will smile kindly upon you and you will be recorded for preferential ticket allocation for the next year. Those seen to be leaving rubbish behind will not be invited back. From the time we enter the site and the first flame is lit, to the time we leave THE HEARTH BONFIRE IS A SACRED FLAME and should not be used as an incinerator. The sweat lodge crew will be less than appreciative to find molten plastic on their hot rocks! Enjoy the atmosphere, respect the land but rejoice in the motto ...
